Pedestrian and vehicle access to vessels
All personnel requiring access to vessels must follow the designated pedestrian and vehicle access routes shown on the map. Please report to the Qube Stevedoring Office prior to accessing the berth or vessel.

Before entering Eastland Port, you need to complete our health and safety induction processes. Our inductions will help ensure you understand how to stay safe while on site.
Accessing Eastland Port
Eastland Port is a secure, Customs-controlled and MPI biosecurity area. Everyone entering the Port must have a genuine work-related reason to be onsite and an approved form of access.
There are two types of Port access:
1. Permanent ID card access
Permanent Port ID cards are only issued to people with a genuine and ongoing operational need to access the Port. This generally includes Port staff, Gisborne-based Qube Ports employees, regular logging truck drivers, and approved contractors who regularly carry out critical operational or safety work.
Completing the Port induction does not automatically qualify you for a permanent ID card. Applications must be supported by an Eastland Port or Qube sponsor and are considered by Port Protection based on your role, frequency of access and operational need. An issue or replacement fee may apply.
2. Temporary or visitor access
Most visitors and contractors do not need a permanent Port ID card. This includes one-off or infrequent contractors, delivery drivers, auditors, inspectors, consultants and visitors.
Depending on the purpose of your visit, access will be managed by:
- Signing in at the gate
- Receiving a temporary or visitor pass
- Being escorted by an authorised Port user

Eastland Port Inductions:
This is a general health and safety induction for anyone coming onto Port.
Please enter your details below.
- Applicants must have completed an Eastland Port site induction course within the previous two years.
- Cards may only be used in the course of the holder’s approved duties. They do not constitute an authority to enter or remain in the port area for any other purpose.
- Cards must be presented for inspection on demand.
- Cards are NOT transferable and are only for use by the person to whom they are issued.
- As a condition of entry to the port area, cardholder’s vehicles and packages may be subject to inspection before entering, while within or when leaving.
- Cards remain the property of Eastland Port Ltd.
- Cards must be returned on expiry, transfer or termination of present duty, or on the request of an Eastland Port staff.
- The applicant must comply with the requirements of the Maritime Security Act 2004 and Eastland Port’s Traffic Management Plan and Standard Conditions of Business.
- Immediately report loss of cards to Eastland Port security.
- Please note that by entering the site you agree to participate in random drug and alcohol testing run by Eastland Port. Failure to participate, or producing a negative sample will result in exclusion from site.
If you are using our trailer hoist you need to complete this induction.
